College Information

Information regarding college choice and admissions varies from university to university and it is in a student’s best interest to research carefully.  It also is never to early to begin. By using the information located at the tabs on the left, students will be able to see a timeline for their high school years, the typical entry requirements and some useful links to aid in their search.

 

COLLEGE APPLICATIONS

 Students planning to attend college next year are encouraged to begin processing applications in late September and in October.  Counselors will meet individually with seniors during September to help facilitate the application process.

 Important Steps in the Application Process:

    • Compile list of colleges/universities of interest
    • Complete online application for each school
      • Complete essay if required
      • Attach list of activities
      • Request your transcript
        • via ConnectEDU for the following schools: Adrian, CMU, Concordia, EMU, FSU, GVSU; Hope, LSSU, Lawrence Tech, MSU, NMU, OU, SVSU, Spring Arbor, UM-Dearborn, UM- Flint, UM, WSU, WMU
        • All other colleges will need you to complete a transcript request form in the guidance office with Miss Brubaker
        • All transcript requests, on-line or paper, will have a $2.00 charge
      • Print out counselor page and submit to Miss Brubaker in the guidance office, along with your transcript request.
        • NOTE:  Without this portion of the application completed and signed by your counselor, your application is incomplete and will not be reviewed by the college/university!!
    • Contact teacher/counselor for letters of recommendation
      • Offer a copy of senior questionnaire to teachers
      • Give a minimum of one week’s notice to teacher/counselor
    • Contact ACT or College Board (SAT) to have scores sent to each college/university.
  • Please allow five school days for all transcript requests and application processing through the guidance office.  There will be a $2 processing fee for college applications, scholarships and NCAA transcripts.
