Timeline

Freshmen Year

  • Take the Social Studies MEAP in the fall
  • Create a four year plan with strong academic courses
  • Maintain a high level of achievement
  • Start exploring careers and college requirements
  • Get involved in your school and community

Sophomore Year

  • Take the PLAN test in the fall
  • Continue on your four year plan and modify if necessary
  • Maintain a high level of achievement
  • Continue involvement in school and community

Junior Year

  • Take the PSAT in the fall
  • Attend college fairs and come listen to college reps after school
  • Maintain a high level of achievement and curriculum
  • Visit college campuses to narrow the college search
  • Take the ACT, SAT, and MME in the spring. 
  • Plan your senior year to take a minimum of 4 academic courses
  • Continue involvement in school and community

Senior Year

  • Retake college entrance exams in the fall if necessary
  • Apply to colleges – be mindful that earlier is better with rolling admission
  • Talk to your counselor about early action vs. early decision
  • Attend college fairs and come listen to college reps after school
  • Attend financial aid meeting in December and complete FAFSA after January 1
  • Search for scholarships and complete applications
  • Continue to do your best academically – it is still vitally important
  • Finalize your college decision and submit your reservation fee
  • Continue involvement in school and community
