Even though H.E.R.O. has been around for a few years, few people know what we actually do. So we're taking the chance to explain it now.We are a club that promotes personal expression (through
discussion) and promotes knowledge and toleration of various human rights issues.
Some of these issues are as follows:
1. Gay Rights Issues:
We are a liberal club that believes that gay people should be respected, and shouldn't be discriminated. With this belief, many people believe that we try to convert people into being gay, or that every H.E.R.O. member is gay. This is simply not the case. There is a difference between promoting respect and trying to convert people.
2. Gender Discrimiation Issues:
We believe that both women and men should have equal opportunities, should be respected as equals, and that they both have the same metal capacity. We have activities that promote these beliefs throughout the year.
3. Racial Issues: We believe that all people were created equal, and denounce racism to the most serious extent. Even though racism isn't as prevalent in American society in comparison to earlier decades, we
still believe that it is a problem.
We definitely have beliefs regarding other issues, but we don't have the time (as of now) to do an activity for every single issue throughout the course of the year.) So, we try to
do the best we can.
