Entry requirements vary greatly from college to college. When planning your high school schedule, it is necessary to include the appropriate courses. Please consult your counselor regarding requirements for specific colleges or the college website.
Colleges typically look at a students grade point average (sometimes recalculated for academics only), the strength of a student’s high school curriculum, and ACT/SAT scores when admitting students. In addition, some colleges want to see the different activities that a student was involved in while a student.
The following are guidelines that have been provided by the Presidents Council of the State Universities of MIchigan regarding core curriculum requirements for college admission.
- English -- 4 years
- Mathematics -- 4 years
- Science -- 4 years
- Social Studies -- 4 years
- World Language -- 3 years strongly recommended
- Fine and Performing Arts -- 2 years
- Computer Literacy -- 1 year
Again realize that these are strictly guidelines and requirements will vary from college to college.
