Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant

Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant - Anne Tyler

Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant is the story of the Tull family of Baltimore, Maryland. It is first told from the perspective of Pearl Tull, and then from the perspectives of her children: Cody, Ezra, and Jennifer. From each point of view, the reader learns of certain events that have either kept the members of the family together or have driven them apart. As Pearl Tull lies dying with Ezra, the youngest son, by her side, she recalls memories of years past, and sets the relaxed, communicative tone of the book. The whole novel is very straightforward, and it is as if the reader is experiencing events that could happen in his or her own family.
