Dreamland - Sarah Dessen
Sarah Dessen takes a more intense and dangerous turn in this novel of a girl, Caitlin, who turns to her boyfriend to find herself and escape her older sister's shadow. At first, Rogerson provides an escape with drugs and his attention to her and her alone - then his anger over nothing becomes violent, and she finds herself trapped in a nightmare of abuse and, ultimately, losing herself and pushing away all friends and help. In Dreamland, Dessen creates a world with an interesting and compelling combination of humor and severity, as the story unfolds to produce more than just the average teen problems.
