Keeping the Moon

Keeping the Moon - Sarah Dessen

As usual, Sarah Dessen eloquently writes of a teen girl learning to love herself in Keeping the Moon, but I think that this is one of her better books. Colie, a once chubby girl is now thin and still hates herself and her intense insecurity. It follows her over a summer at her aunt's house and the people there who become her friends and teach her what being a friend means - and how she needs to have confidence in herself and not allow other people to walk all over her. The lessons may not be new, but they are told in such a way as to bring a fresh perspective of them.
