My Sister's Keeper
Jodi Picoult
This was an AWESOME book. First of all, the rotating points of view highlights a very specific omition of the person whose opinion is most in question, adding an element of reality to the novel by allowing the reader an unbiased view, while also making sure that you don't have more information than any viewer of the situation could. when one sister refuses to donate her kidney to her other sister, the cancerous sister's voice is only one left unheard until the end. however, you hear of it from the father, mother, brother, lawyer, and his ex-girlfriend. Being a book, there is definitely an edge of incredulous plot movements, but the over-all message is clear, while also forcing the reading to take into consideration different ethical issues in the scientific and medical field today. This is a particularly unusual situation, but scarily possible. The ending COMPLETELY shocked me for once. I have been surpris ed by endings, but usually parts of it. This one, however, took me totally offguard.
It was both a page-turner and thinker - what more could you ask for in a book?
