New Moon: Stephenie Meyer
New Moon was just as good as the first...except the ending. I was really, REALLY impressed by the author's ability to convey the protagonist's emotions. Many shy away from making the feelings that intense, for fear of losing the reality of the situation - and it's a very real fear to have. Nevertheless, somehow in her books, this author reallyc captures the emotions, and seems to have no trouble exploring them and expressing them. It's difficult to put the book down, because being so intricately invovled with the characters makes you feel as though you are actually there, going through the emotions. Similar to Twilight, the plot was unusual, and not the type I would typically enjoy, but I still couldn't shut the book. However, some negatives others might find is that Edward and the Cullens from the first book are, for most this sequel, absent; but that seems to work for the novel, I think it solidifies the protagonist’s emotions. The issue for me was the ending...it just didn't seem right and didn't quite match the rest of the book. Hopefully that will be better in the third book! But otherwise, if you liked the first, you will LOVE this one.
