Prom

The novel Prom, by Laurie Halse Anderson, was one of the most dispointing books I have ever read in my entire life. In fact, I was so angry when I finished it, I wanted to return it within six hours of buying it. The reason is because Laurie Halse Anderson wrote one of youth's top fiction books, in my opinion, in her novel Speak. Prom, on the other hand, was incredibly shallow for an author capable of so much more. At first it is actually ok, but then by the end you just want to hit some of the characters and yell at the author because it makes almost no sense and you could never imagine it happening. It's really a sort of Cinderella - without the phase where Cinderella is living the life of an abused servant. It's honestly all I remember about the book, and that's saying a lot because I have never written such a derogatory book review in my entire life with so little plot synopsis, but all that stands out about the book was the improbability of it. My point is, Laurie Halse Anderson is an author capable of much more, and I wouldn't recommend this book to anybody unless your looking for an incredibly light and easy read.
