Sloppy Firsts - Anne McCafferty
Anne McCafferty creatively writes in prose the story of Jessica Darling from her point of view as her best and only true friend moves away and she tries to branch out. It's very humorously written with some very personal insights that make you feel as though you are the character herself as she continues her track meets and has some hilarious and weird run-ins with the supposedly school druggie Marcus Flutie. As her mom obsseses over Jessica's sister's upcoming wedding, and her father obsesses over Jessica's track meets, you see her experience highschool and the pressure that comes with it. A funny, yet somehow deep book written in very to-the-point prose.
