Stay with me
Garret Freyman-Weyr
This book was exceptionally written. While the plot was slightly odd, and the family connections and weird romances slightly disturbing, Freymann-Weyr wrote with an insightful poignancy that puts emotions exactly into words – something that I think most authors should strive for. The reader leaves the book feeling that they, for a time at least, seriously lived in someone else’s emotions and thoughts. Even if the personal level of the book isn’t striking, it is some of the philosophies on love that are interesting; they don’t necessarily side with the more classic, romantic concepts. It is a very modern way of thinking, yet still as delicate in meaning. I would recommend any high schooler to read it, especially if they have ever had an unusual family situation, or if they have experienced the death of someone close to them.
