Surprised by Joy - C.S. Lewis

I'm a huge fan of C.S. Lewis. To be honest he is not really the best if you are looking for a light read or generally a normal high school read. However, his books have a lot of content. This one isn't aimed at giving a specific story, and neither is it aimed at giving his autobiography (the back insinuates that by giving a summary of his life he is giving his autobiography) - instead, Lewis analyzes his life experiences to explain how he went from Christian, to atheist, to agnostic, and finally a full-fledged Christian. Even if you are not the least bit religious, it can be intensely interesting to try and follow his thought process because it is unique, yet at the same time gives you an in depth understanding of how people come the conclusions about faith that they do. If not for the content itself, I would recommend it for the philosophies interspersed throughout. This is a book you have to read slowly in small parts because there is so much to take in on every page and in every chapter. I would highly recommend it if you are interested in philosophy and the reasoning behind different people's faith. Or just for the quotes. :-)
