The Beekeeper's Apprentice

The Beekeeper’s Apprentice - Laurie R. King

With a misleading name, this book could easily be taken for anything other than a Sherlock Holmes story. However, that’s just what it is, though it is told from a different point in time and from the perspective of the apprentice, and later partner, Miss Mary Russell. Sherlock Holmes has retired, and is peacefully living in the country when he meets a girl with mental prowess rivaling his own. After a period of training, a case begins to take form, endangering everyone who was and is close to the retired sleuth. This last case will push both Sherlock & his new partner to their mental and physical limits if they are to solve it. Look for characters from the original Sherlock stories, including Watson, Mycroft (Holmes’s brother), and the echo of his greatest foe. I dare you to put it down before the end.
