The Truth About Forever, written by Sarah Dessen, is very similar, yet distinctly different in some key points to her other novel, This Lullaby. It's a very well-told story about a teen (Macy Queen), coping with her father's death in her own, unique way. She says she's fine and continues leading her "perfect" life of straight A's, when in reality, she blames herself for the death and is overwhelmed with grief. At first, she feels lost when her boyfriend leaves for "Brain Camp." Macy joins a quircky catering crew with some very interesting people in it that she would usually not hang out with. They teach her about friendship and letting things go - especially the very artistic Wes. They teach her that her life didn't end with her father's death, and that forever is about beginnings and fresh starts. Dessen's writing on a teen's grief for her father during a time of transition is right on the spot and couldn't be written better.
