Fundamentals of Art: This is an introductory art course designed to develop basic skills in drawing, color, & three-dimensional design. Students have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of mediums including: drawing, painting, collage, clay, printmaking, computer art, calligraphy, & mixed media

Drawing 1: This course is an introduction to basic drawing principles & techniques using primarily black & white media.

Drawing 2: This course is a continuation of Drawing 1 with emphasis on colored media.

Painting 1: This course is an introduction to basic painting styles/ techniques & to various water-soluble painting media.

Painting 2: This is a course designed to build on the skills developed in painting 1, using the water soluble media with an emphasis on more individual direction.

Ceramics 1: The aim of this course is to teach the following methods of working with clay: pinch, coil, slab, & sculpture. All work will be done by hand; no plaster molds will be used.

Ceramics 2: The aim of this course is to teach advanced work in ceramics, including the potter's wheel & all hand methods.

Sculpture: This course is an introduction to three-dimensional work using a variety of materials such as metal, wood, plaster, & clay. Students retaking the course will be able to choose more individual direction in their work.

Metals 1: This course will introduce students to construction & fabrication techniques in jewelry & small sculpture. Silver soldering, ring sizing, forming, etc. will give the student a general background in metalsmithing.

Metals 2: Students will have  instruction in advanced fabrication techniques.

Lettering & Calligraphy: This course will present methods in lettering whereby skills can be perfected & the knowledge of letter forms mastered. The development of elegant handwriting, composition, & design skills is explored through a series of applied projects, such as certificates, posters, & greeting cards.

Advanced Art - AP: This individualized study course for advanced students is designed & geared toward fulfilling the criteria used in advanced placement college testing, i.e. quality, & breadth (using a variety of means & materials). Portfolio preparation.

Computer Graphics 1: This course is an introduction to using the computer to create works of art. Using specialized software suited for personal computers, students will learn how to use artistic composition & design skills with the computer medium. Students will learn how to integrate technology with traditional art making practices. This course fulfills the computer graduation requirment.

Computer Graphics 2: This course covers advanced Photoshop, while introducing students to video as art. Students will create advanced mixed media works of art using the computer & video. The class will introduce students to the work of artists working in computer & video as a medium in fine art.
