Interested students should apply during their junior or senior year to Mrs. Yax or Mrs. Rosenberg, the Co-op Coordinators. Applications are available  below  (# 3) link (Co-op Work Agreement) .  Once your co-op form is turned in, teachers will send out
notifications of new postings by area employers.  It is your responsibility to secure your own co-op position.

     Mrs. Yax is in room #103   Mrs. Rosenberg is in room #273.  Students work on average 10 hours a week or
     200 hours a semester.  The experience is usually paid, but can be unpaid.  Students earn 1/2 credit each semester for the
    experience.  These teachers have their Prep time for Co-op student questions,  6th hr

    This program can also help students recover credit, Co-op can be arranged for after school. If a student meets
    graduation requirements he/she can sometimes leave the building for 5th & 6th hr and work

    Paperwork Steps to get Co-op in your schedule.

1.  Co-op students must make an update to their Educational Development Plan

2. Students will also complete Safety Training.  Students can access the information at
 http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/teenworkers/teenworkers.html
Read the text then,scroll down to bottom click "take the quiz",
when you score 100%, print quiz --sign it.  Mrs. Heinze will assist students with this task in the Career Room

3. Parents and Students sign a Co-op Work Agreement http://www.troycolts.org/Cooperative_Education_Application.doc

Give these documents to your co-op coordinator  (Mrs. Yax or Mrs. Rosenberg). 
Both teachers then give the documents to your counselor, so your schedule can be changed
.

 

 

Co-op Program / Work-based Learning
Cooperative education is a program for persons who (through a cooperative arrangement between
the school and employers) receive instruction by alternating study in school with a job in a related
occupational field. These experiences must be planned and supervised by the school and employers
so that each contributes to the student's education and to his/her employability. The following are job
titles that students have held in past Co-op positions:
