Educational Development Plan
What is an Educational Development Plan (EDP)? An EDP
is a plan of action in which a student documents his/her career goals, educational goals, and course choices. Students can also explore careers and post secondary schooling options.
Students first develop an EDP in middle school and update it annually. Troy Schools uses Career Cruising Software. Parents and students can access the EDP electronically from home. Using Career Cruising students can: --take an interest assessment --explore occupations
in terms of earnings, education required, job description, hiring outlook, working conditions and hear interviews from working professionals Visiting the web sites of the professional
associations related to the career offers valuable information.--research 4 year colleges, community colleges, trade schools and graduate schools in terms of costs,
admission requirements and determining if the college offers Division I or Division II sport opportunities --complete scholarship searches and learn about financial aid --create a resume
