The Resume builder tool available in Career Cruising can assist a student in creating a resume.  To access Career Cruising go to menu box
click
on EDP/CareerCruising to access your account.  If you have applied to 5-10 places with just an employment application and you
haven't gotten an interview, you really need to consider preparing a resume.

Sample Employment Application - Practice filling out the application at home.  If you haven't gotten a job after filling
after applying to 5-10 places, you may not be filling the form out correctly.  Come to the career room for help.

WORK PERMIT PROCEDURE:

1. Students may pick up a blank work permit in the Counseling Office 

         ( The CA-6 is a pink form used for minors who are under 16.
           The CA-7 is a yellow form and is used for minors who are 16 and 17 years of age.)

 
2. The student completes Section A.
3. The student takes the form to the prospective Employer who completes Section B.
4. The student takes the form to the Counseling Office so we as a school can fill in Section C.
5.. Student  returns the completed original form to the employer.
6. Student may now begin work.

Volunteer Opportunities
S tudents can obtain contact information for a variety of volunteer opportunities by
calling these numbers and/or looking at these websites:

Telephone Numbers & Web sites 

For students interested in health care volunteer experience, try calling local nursing homes to get
experience working with patients.  Nursing homes tend to be more flexible than hospitals with age
requirements, and hours that you work.  Sometimes local churchs ask for volunteers to work at
free medical clincs in Pontiac or Detroit.  Check with your church
Also think about joining CLUB MED at THS to learn about medical jobs.
