The OSTC high school program is ideal for students who plan to work after high school while they put themselves through college.
They leave high school with the 21st century job skills . Our world is changing and job skills are needed along with a solid
academic foundation. Knowing about the Oakland Schools Technical Campus program can help you and your child evaluate
if this type of education fits with you child's educational and career goals. It can help your child "try out a job" in his/her chosen
career pathway, to see if attending college to gain more skills in this area would be a good fit for a profession. Statistics indicate students will have 10-14 jobs by the time they are 38 years old.
An additional benefit to students who attend OSTC-SE, is that they have the opportunity to earn college credit for their
course work at OSTC -SE through Articulation Agreements with local colleges. For students interested in an Associates Degree
in Automotive Technology, OSTC -SE has a streamlined program with GM and Macomb Community College. Students are
selected and sponsored by a GM dealership, receive paid employment and can gain work experience while going to school.
One thing to remember is that most technical programs at OSTC – SE require a student to use their Algebra 2 skills and English skills in their course work.
